Job Description

The Planned & Major Giving Operations Manager is responsible for managing the multiple aspects associated with the day-to-day operations of our planned and major giving marketing program, which may include working with our vendor on the creation of collateral, mail campaigns, email campaigns, landing pages, and social media.   Additionally, the Planned & Major Giving Operations Manager will work closely with the Director of Planned and Major Giving Operations and the Corporate Director of Planned and Major Giving on the daily operational tasks for the department.  The Planned & Major Giving Operations Manager will report to the Director of Planned and Major Giving Operations with a dotted reporting line to the Corporate Director of Planned & Major Giving, and is an essential part of the team that supports the entire Planned and Major Giving Team of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Planned Giving Marketing Program (50%)

Manage the day-to-day operations of our planned and major giving marketing program, which includes planned giving collateral, mail initiatives, email initiatives, social media ads, and the planned giving sections of our website.  The day-to-day operations include, but are not limited to, working with our planned giving marketing vendor, analyzing campaigns for improvement areas, facilitating monthly calls with our vendor, garnering patient stories/consents, reviewing marketing content for accuracy, reviewing invoices and working with the legal and the marketing and communications departments to obtain approval of the marketing content.

B. State Registration Filings (20%)

Working with the Director of Planned and Major Giving Operations to prepare and file all state charitable solicitation registrations, including keeping up-to-date on state charitable solicitation laws as well as making sure all filings are timely submitted.

C.  Donor Services (10%)

Answer telephone calls and emails from the public and route them to the appropriate individual(s). Additionally, develop and maintain a strong collaborative working relationship with all of the Shriners Hospitals for Children development team. Promote a positive atmosphere while working cooperatively with all Development Directors and Senior Regional Directors to help locations and their development offices’ attain their financial goals.

D. Operational Support (10%)

Prepare reports regarding various aspects of the planned and major giving team fundraising activities with an emphasis on the marketing program.  Work in cooperation with our donation coordinators, legal department and income trust department to make sure gifts are appropriately reviewed and routed for processing.  Work with the Director of Planned and Major Giving Operations and the Corporate Director of Planned and Major Giving on operational matters as assigned.

E.   Trainings & Operational Travel (5%)

Assist with planned giving trainings as needed throughout the year.  Visit our direct mail cager, as needed, for operational review of our work instructions make any adjustments for the current year or upcoming year.  Attend meetings with our vendors, which may be held off-site.  Assist with national and local events as requested.

F. Other duties as assigned (5%)

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas

  • 3 or more years’ experience in planned & major giving, fundraising marketing, or donor development operations, required

  • Familiarity with planned giving terms and gift types preferred

Minimum Education Required/Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Ability to work individually on projects as well as be a team player

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience managing competing deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
