In approximately 18 to 24 months, the services currently located in the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston will transition to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston location.

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston, located in the heart of the prominent Texas Medical Center, has an immediate opening for a PRN Physical Therapist whose focus will be to treat a population of patients from our in-patient pediatric rehabilitation and sub-acute program.  

If you have an interest in being part of a dynamic team whose vision it is to “become the best at transforming children’s lives by providing exceptional healthcare through innovative research in a patient and family centered environment", then this is the place for you.  Through our dynamic team approach to treatment you will encounter and treat pediatric patients from birth to 18 years of age with complex rehabilitation needs.  Common diagnoses encountered here include cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta, spina bifida, SCI, TBI, arthrogryposis and amputation. 

The ideal candidate for this position must be experienced in pediatrics and have a very strong neurological/rehabilitation background.  PRN staffing needs might occur any day from Monday through Saturday.  Additional PRN Physical Therapist is needed to manage growing case load, holiday coverage and weekend hours. 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or certificate program in Physical Therapy.

License/Certification: Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Physical Therapist in the state of Texas.; Completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Program required within 30 days of employment.

Training/Experience: At least one (1) year as a Physical Therapist is preferred. A strong desire for pediatrics.

Skills/Knowledge: Must demonstrate competencies in provision of physical therapy services and work well in an interdisciplinary setting. Must be able to maintain assigned work hours and perform the essential functions of their jobs.
