Job Description


Shriners Hospitals for Children—Springfield is looking for qualified Pediatric Hospitalists to join an existing pediatric hospitalist group to provide in-house patient care within our facility. The physician will be responsible for managing in-house medical care for infants, children, and adolescents on our surgical and inpatient rehabilitation units at night, over weekends, and during holidays. Essential duties include monitoring patient medical status, recommending treatment plans, recording and updating medical information for existing patients.  The pediatric hospitalist will respond to, and lead, any emergency activities involving patients/families /visitors within the facility.


 


Successful candidates will be Board-Certified or Board Eligible Pediatricians with at least 5 years of pediatric hospitalist experience.


 


Hospitalist Responsibilities:


·       Provide medical management of patient care in hospital setting.


  • Take patient medical histories.

    Examine patients, order, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical conditions, determine diagnosis and implement appropriate treatment.

  • Create and recommend treatment plans.

    Monitor patients’ condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.

  • Update patient information and charts with latest findings and treatments.

  • Respond to questions and concerns from patients and families about their health care and well-being.

    Communicate and coordinate with other physicians involved in patient care within the institution.

  • Discuss proper nutrition, hygiene, and self-care with patients to promote good health.

  • Work with various medical staff such as an anesthesiologist, surgeons, and nurses to provide patient care.

    Works with hospital team (physicians, PA’s, NP’s and nurses) to maximize efficiency.

Displays a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude.

Job Requirements


Hospitalist Requirements


  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completed an accredited 3 year pediatric residency and board certified or board eligible.

  • Current M.D. or D.O. license in Massachusetts.

  • Certification in PALS.

  • Current State and Federal Narcotics Licenses.

    5 years pediatric hospitalist experience.
