Job Description

Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury and pediatric subspecialties medical center, has an exceptional opportunity for an Engineering Supervisor to join our Maintenance and Engineering team.  

This full time position plans and directs work assignments and projects of assigned staff;  facilitates the completion of work orders and preventative maintenance work by maintaining stock levels and expediting delivery of materials required by staff.  Acts as a resource to staff in completing their assigned duties. Attend weekly meetings with the Facilities Management team to remain abreast of all issues pertaining to the priorities of the department and contribute to team based decisions.

Job Requirements

Must have the ability to troubleshoot, repair, regulate, and control electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems, and portable equipment; read and comprehend schematics, blue prints, and shop drawings and Accurately determines time and materials required for a job. Requires knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems, safe operation and repairs and the ability to supervise staff effectively and with consistency. 

Must possess a working knowledge of Title 22 requirements for healthcare, as well as understanding of federal regulations, local ordinances and hospital rules for compliance with environmental standards set by Federal, State, and local agencies with authority over Hospital buildings. 10 years of institutional employment as maintenance engineer preferably in a Hospital setting, completion of Certified Health Care Senior Mechanic certification issued by California Society for Healthcare Engineering (CSHE), and completion of accredited apprenticeship program is preferred.

Requires Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate (CFC license).
