Shriners Hospital for Children--Boston is seeking Director of Care Management/Outpatient Clinic.

Position Overview:

The Director serves as the primary point of contact for physicians and staff, utilizes considerable judgement to resolve routine to complex inquiries or issues and serves as a liaison between the outpatient departments and other Shriners departments. This position functions highly independently; however, it has the benefit of being an integral part of the hospital's patient care services teams. This position oversees XX direct reports and a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic staff.    

Reporting to the Director of Patient Care Services/Nursing Executive, this role is part of the Patient Care Service Leadership Team. 

Out-Patient Clinic Summary:

We provide an exceptional multidisciplinary outpatient clinic experience for children from birth to 18 years in 9 examination rooms and a treatment room. Our staff provide care to children at more than 6,000 specialty medical and rehabilitation clinic encounters for burn care, plastic and reconstructive surgery, laser therapy, pressure garment therapy, physical and occupational therapy, make-up clinic, and psychological support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops standard of care policies/procedures; continuously evaluates the quality of patient care in relation to the guidelines 
  • Ensures staff practices nursing care consistent with the philosophy, mission policies/standards and the hospitals core values
  • Assesses the educational needs of the department; develops goals with staff, recommends educational programs in collaboration with the Educational Team
  • Actively supports the interdisciplinary health team approach to patient care by participating in patient conferences, rounds, outreach clinics, etc.   
  • Implements/evaluates quality improvement activities in compliance with Regulatory Agency Standards 
  •  Prepares departmental budget in collaboration with the Director of Patient Care/Nursing Executive 
  • Demonstrates and facilitates the provision of care that best meets the developmental needs of our patients

Job Requirements

Five (5) years plus in a leadership role in a healthcare environment; preferably in an out-patient clinic, hospital or medical setting. 

Bachelor’s degree (BSN) required; Master’s degree in healthcare or related field strongly preferred.
