This position is responsible for oversight of Point Of Care laboratory procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory Medical Director. Also, acts a liaison to evaluate other contracted laboratory services related to monitoring of testing and responsible for result management. Duties are performed independently and/or with minimal direction by management. Participates in the development of standard operating procedures and administrative functions.

Performs or oversees a range of Linearity, Controls, and any technically CLIA waived and moderate complexity procedures. Operates existing POC equipment and follows established procedures. Performs or oversees calibration, sta ndardization and Quality Control protocols to ascertain accuracy of results, and performs preventive maintenance as scheduled and required by the manufactures. Performs simple trouble- shooting activities according to established guidelines. Records and analyzes quality control data for trends and abnormalities. Performs and documents preventive maintenance and function checks for POC equipment and assures proper operation of instrumentation. Records preventive maintenance documentation and all other indicators (temperatures, timers, tachometer readings, pipet calibration, etc.) as required by POC’s procedure manual. Tracks proficiency assessment for POC testing and evaluates all proficiency failures as needed.

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Medical Technology, required 
  • 2 Years Clinical Laboratory experience, required
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), preferred
