Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Louis, is searching for a dynamic, collaborative, and mission-oriented leader to serve as its Hospital Administrator. Since 1924, Shriners Hospitals for Children — St. Louis’s board-certified surgeons and staff have been providing high quality pediatric, complex orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care to children in an environment designed to put children at ease and regardless of the family’s ability to pay. The Administrator provides values-based and strategic leadership as part of a strong leadership team. Shriners has recently organized St. Louis hospital to be part of the Midwest Market along with our Chicago and Twin Cities facilities.

Shriners seeks a politically perceptive, emotionally intelligent executive who possesses and demonstrates the competencies necessary to lead a small, but complex healthcare organization. The next Administrator will be experience successfully leading teams through organizational change, directing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the efficient delivery of services. Must be comfortable working in a health system and skilled in developing matrix relationships


• Master’s Degree required in Healthcare administration, Business administration/management, or relevant healthcare degree with consideration given to candidates with relevant leadership experience.

• 15 years’ experience, required progressive healthcare leadership experience in an acute care hospital/ambulatory surgery center/multi-disciplinary healthcare setting.

• Preference for candidates with five years management experience in a non-profit healthcare system.

• Preference for candidates with five years of oversight of a pediatric or orthopaedic service line.

• Board certification Healthcare management and Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives. (FACHE)

The Administrator has a dual reporting relationship with the facility’s Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), and the Midwest Market Administrator as well as a collaborative relationship with the Vice President, Hospital Operations. The Administrator is accountable for all aspects of the facility’s performance including development of the high performance culture required to drive quality care and optimal patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, safety, and financial stewardship.
