Shriners Hospitals for Children–Northern California is presently recruiting an experienced fundraising professional for the San Francisco Bay Area region. For a seasoned development professional located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and interested in purposeful fundraising, this is a dynamic and meaningful position.



Imagine working for Northern California’s premier pediatric specialty hospital where there are no barriers to care for children requiring treatment for complex orthopaedic conditions, spinal cord injuries and acute rehabilitation, burns, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery. At Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California , it happens every day. Our innovative programs are growing and we are looking for a highly motivated Development Officer to become part of our Development team. This regional full time position is in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and reports to the Hospital Administrator with a direct reporting relationship to the hospital's Director of Development. Position responsibilities include identifying and cultivating prospective donors from communities within the hospital’s service territory for purposes of soliciting major gifts, and nurturing donor relationships through regular contact, communication and recognition. For purposes of fund raising, develops and maintains relationships with the regional community and hospital-affiliated Shrine Centers .

This position requires:


  • Strong written and oral communication skills;

  • Effective time management skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work successfully with colleagues, donors, administrators, and volunteers;

  • Must be a facilitator with excellent management skills and results-oriented;

  • Highly developed ability to work independently within a strong teamwork philosophy as well as collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals;

  • Strong computer skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office;

  • Donor database experience preferred;

  • Detail oriented with respect to planning, file analysis and record keeping is essential;

  • Skilled in prospect management and prospect research;

  • Informed and committed to the work of Shriners Hospitals for Children and the importance of Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California to the health and well-being of children in the region;

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment;

  • Adaptable to change;

  • Flexible in working hours, ability and willingness to travel;

  • Confident, professional, energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and an absolutely ethical "people person" who is genuinely interested in others and an active listener;

  • Knowledgeable about a broad range of interests and possessing the ability to comfortably converse on many subjects

     

    At least 5 years of Fundraising experience or 3 years of experience working in major giving and planned giving or Charitable Gift Annuities programs preferred.
