Shriners Hospitals for Children - Chicago is looking for a PRN Pharmacist to join our hospital team.


In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy Services the PRN Pharmacist is accountable and responsible for promoting quality patient care by providing pharmaceutical services to patients in our hospital care setting.

Prepares, dispenses and monitors drugs and chemicals in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, the PRN Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pharmaceutical services and provision of appropriate medications to patients in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Assists in maintaining the file for identifying the signature of all practitioners authorized to use the pharmaceutical services for ambulatory care, patient prescriptions, as well as listing of their Drug Enforcement Administration numbers.

  • Ensures that a sufficient supply of drugs and pharmaceutical preparations are available to meet current and projected patient needs.

  • Maintains an adequate supply of floor stock medications, according to established protocols, on all Nursing Units, the Operating Room and on the anesthesia carts.

  • Maintains written logs or records of pharmacy transactions as required by applicable law.

  • Maintains an effective system for proper control of narcotic medications.

  • Participates actively in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.  Current professional pharmacist (RPh.) in State of Illinois.

 

Experience:  A minimum of three years’ experience as a hospital-based registered pharmacist required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Current RPh licensure.
