Shriners Hospitals for Children — Honolulu is recruiting for a Chief of Staff. The SHC Honolulu provides the highest quality care for orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal disorders and conditions. Our world-class doctors and staff members are committed to improving the lives of children in Hawaii and the Pacific region, and are specialized in bone, joint, muscle and sports injuries.

The Chief of Staff will play a vital role in expanding and integrating the program within the local and regional market in the context of an ever-changing healthcare system. The Honolulu location has a world-renowned clinical staff, education program including affiliation with the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and supported clinical

research activities.

Job Requirements

Area of responsibility includes the entire state of Hawaii with satellite clinic sites on Kauai, Maui and the island of Hawaii in Hilo and Kona.

Established outreach clinics in the west and south Pacific areas to include American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, Fiji, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.

Diverse patient population with under-treated and untreated chronic orthopedic conditions such as osteomyelitis, post-traumatic deformities, talipes equinovarus, osteogenesis imperfecta, developmental dysplasia of the hip, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, congenital scoliosis, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, chronic knee ligamentous injuries, cerebral palsy, myelodysplasia, brachial plexus palsy, and upper extremity congenital anomalies.

Education Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy degree (DO)
  • Orthopedic Surgery residency
  • Pediatric Orthopedic fellowship
  • Board certification

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 10 years clinical experience with leadership in managing physicians
  • Demonstrates skill and interest in research and education

Our ideal candidate will have current experience as a leader in an academic and or hospital/clinical environment, known as a strong contributor in research and publications and presentations, an active member of POSNA, AAOS, other pertinent state, local and national memberships, and must be a mentor to young attending physicians, fellows and residents.
