Job Description

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City is looking for a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist position provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral. This position can require weekend work if the department has a need from time to time.

The Physical Therapist will provide comprehensive compliant and safe clinical care demonstrating the philosophy of family centered care, a commitment to the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the standards of practice of their professional organization.


Work with medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized plans of care to meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their family.


Function as a team member and develops leadership skills through activities such as: mentoring, and providing education to students and other professionals. 


Support the ongoing development and improvement of the department through participation in special projects, performance improvement and facility committees.


Responsible for professional growth and development through ongoing education and research in alignment with hospital’s patient care and strategic direction.


Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation  and any other knowledge related to the compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.


In cooperation with other local leaders, the PRN Physical Therapist will offer exceptional care following the Shriners Hospitals for Children® FOCUSED©™ Program, a system-wide model for professional practice that stresses and emphasizes patient-centered care, or always putting the needs of the patients (and their families first).

Job Requirements

Education

Doctorate degree from an accredited physical therapy program 

 

Experience

One-year of PT or OT practice experience preferred

Pediatric experience preferred

New graduates considered

 

Certification AND Licensure

Licensed in state of Utah (required)

BLS (required)

PCS, OCS, NCS, and CHT preferred

 

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge, skills, and abilities in working with children at various levels of care.

Ability to work independently, work within a multidisciplinary treatment team, and collaborate and/or coordinate services with team members.


Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with children and families of different developmental levels and cultural backgrounds.
