Job Description

In approximately 18 to 24 months, the services currently located in the Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston will transition to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston location.


Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston, located in the heart of the prominent currently Texas Medical Center, has an immediate opening for a full time Occupational Therapist whose focus will be to treat a population of patients from our in-patient pediatric rehabilitation unit. Through our dynamic team approach to treatment you will encounter and treat pediatric patients from birth to 18 years of age with complex rehabilitation needs. 


Common diagnoses encountered here include cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta, spina bifida, SCI, TBI, arthrogryposis, and amputation.  The ideal candidate for this position has experience in pediatrics and has a strong neurological/rehabilitation background. 


 


Job Requirements

Education: Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) Degree from and accredited program required.
 
License/Certification: Licensed as an Physical Therapist in the state of Texas.; Completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Program required within 30 days of employment.

Training/Experience: At least one (2) year as a Physical Therapist is preferred. A strong desire for pediatrics.

Skills/Knowledge: Must demonstrate competencies in provision of physical therapy services and work well in an interdisciplinary setting.  Must be able to maintain assigned work hours and perform the essential functions of their jobs. 

***Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
