Peri-operative RN Educator

Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California, the premier pediatric burns, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, and pediatric subspecialties medical center is looking for a highly motivated Peri-operative Educator with a passion for helping the pediatric population to work with our Surgical Services team. Shriners Hospital is the largest provider of pediatric sub-specialty orthopedic and burn care in Northern California and recognized by US News and World Report as a top pediatric hospital in the country.


We are seeking an energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable professional who has expertise and experience in the peri-operative field. This position is responsible to support the educational needs of pre-op, PACU, central sterile and an operating room that cares for orthopedic, pediatric surgery and burn patients. Other responsibilities include assessing, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating education programs to ensure personnel maintain competency, continuing education and leadership development. This position will also assist in the development of position-based competencies and evaluation of staff performance, support for regulatory requirements and quality assurance and performance improvement in conjunction with designated leadership staff.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have current licensure as a Registered Nurse, BLS, PALS and CNOR certification.  BSN from an accredited program and at least 5 years of varied surgical services experience required.    Knowledge of ASPAN standards and sterile processing principles/AAMI standards and experience with AORN core curriculum, and presenting educational programs preferred.  Ability to scrub various surgical procedures, specifically orthopedics, general surgery, and plastics, advanced computer sills, and BLS or PALS instructor certification a plus.
