Shriners Hospitals for Children - Salt Lake City is an acute pediatric orthopaedic specialty hospital. You will function as a critical member of our hospital's team and work towards the goals of Shriners Hospital for Children.

We are hiring a full time, 36 hours a week, Pediatric Registered Nurse. This position will work three 12-hour shifts a week. The registered professional nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shrines Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of sources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.

Job Requirements


  • BSN degree required
  • RN License in state of Utah required
  • BLS certification is required
  • PALS certification is required 

  • Two years of Acute Care Nursing preferred
  • Experience in the pediatric specialty of the hospital which may include: Maternal/Child, Orthopaedic, Burn Rehabilitation preferred

The ideal nurse will have strong customer service philosophy, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, Proven proactive leadership ability. Works well under pressure, knowledgeable of regulatory agency requirements (i.e. The Joint Commission, State, and Federal agencies).
