Job Description

The Media Engagement & Special Events Coordinator is part of the Development Operations team whose focus is on national and local direct marketing response programs to increase revenue and brand awareness for the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC).  The Coordinator reports into the Manager of Media Engagement and Special Events, the Media Engagement and Special Events Coordinator is responsible for leading, supporting and advancing media engagement programs to ensure alignment of activities are with organizational goals, strategies and branding. The person in this position will work with his/her manager, necessary HQ staff, local hospital staff and appropriate vendors to help organize the production of our DRTV spots, plan, develop and execute telethons/radiothons.  The ideal candidate is also responsible for helping work with his/her manager for planning and execution of the Donor Relations Department role for each of the national SHC events.


  • Responsible for planning, developing strategy and activating onsite execution of new SHC media engagement fundraising events.  These fundraising events would include, but not limited to, national and local Telethons and Radiothons, etc.

  • Engage national and local television networks, radio stations to coordinate the logistics of telethons/radiothons in the different markets. Position would also be required to travel to the different event locations to activate these events on behalf of SHC

  • Help individual hospitals identify, implement and ensure successful implementation and activation of new, market specific media engagement opportunities.  Especially in regards to local telethons and radiothons.

  • Partner with hospitals, other SHC staff and the Media Engagement and Special Events Manager to develop essential trainings, tools and resources to significantly enhance the effectiveness and organizational capacity of media engagement programs.

  • Track quantitative and quantifiable goals to illustrate success of media engagement strategies, tactics and campaigns. Ensure all media engagement activities are aligned with the organization’s brand and strategic goals.

  • Assist with planning, pre and post-production, and onsite execution of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Donor Relations cause marketing efforts, including DRTV Commercials, Social Media, and PSA’s. 

  • Ensure all patients featured in marketing creative on behalf of Donor Relations are within consent guidelines, and made aware of duties ask to be performed before activation/event.

Job Requirements

The qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas

  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible fundraising operations experience required
  • 5 or more years of experience working with national fundraising required

Minimum Education Required/Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
