We are looking for a qualified candidate to fulfill the position of the Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator.  This role is critical within the organization and the candidate must have a positive attitude with a creative mind.  S/he needs to be a team player and has the ability to learn fast and is expected to hit the ground running ASAP.  The specialist needs to have the intermediate to advanced Excel skills (or has the ability to learn fast) and solid sales & marketing experience and knowledge in SoCal healthcare market.  Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in marketing graphic design, event planning and bi-lingual in another language is highly desired.  Candidate who has existing (and current) media contacts within SoCal, contacts within the SoCal medical community, and/or outreach experience (preferably in the healthcare industry) will be considered first.


Salaried - Exempt Position

Position Summary:

The Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Business Development & Public/Community Relations, shares Marketing and Community Relations responsibilities, including (but not limited to) the following: secures ongoing media exposure, coordinates marketing and business development projects, creates and maintains digital and print media content, assists in developing and maintaining positive community relationships, and manages projects that assist the medical center to enhance market share. This role will support the department director in executing strategies to increase patient referrals from all service areas, promoting service lines via various marketing tactics, and the individual will also be working in conjunction with Department of Donor Development on the project basis. The Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator will assist the Director in liaising internally and externally; therefore a positive attitude with advanced data collecting ability and flawless people skills are required.


Responsibility & Accountability:

  1. Promotes the desirable growth  in all service areas

  • Establishes and maintains professional contacts by utilizing face to face personal engagement opportunities.

  • Visits referring physicians’ offices to establish and maintain active partnerships in the community.

  • Executes patient acquisition campaigns under the directive of the Director.

  • Conducts market research and prepares reports as assigned.

  • Tracks new patient referrals.

  • Prepares outreach materials for the department, when needed.

  • Keeps a ‘live’ referral database updated.

  • Responsible to assist the Director in liaising internally and externally, including various departments within the medical center and community healthcare providers; The person in this position must have excellent people skills, s/he needs to be able to solve the problems under minimum supervision, and this person also needs to be pro-active in all aspects and has the ability to communicate professionally at all times.


     2). Maintains a healthy Social Media presence to target different audiences

  • Maintains an active social medial presence to increase patient referrals and donations.

  • Creates and updates all social media platform with interesting and current information and stories. Follows HIPAA and other guidelines to generate public interest and increase future referrals.

  • Knowledge of new media, social media, and marketing tools in a healthcare setting.


3). Communications Management

  • Drafts communication materials, including press releases, press advisories, speaking engagements and pitch letters.

  • Pitches unique story ideas, patient success stories, and research reports to media. Develops and distributes news and stories to news outlets

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with journalists in all communities served by the medical center (print, online, tv/radio).

  • Insures necessary photographic consents are obtained for patients who may be part of medical center’s special events, media events or hospital publications and stories.

  • Strong ability to write creative, informative and interesting stories/press releases of patients, staff, services, events, etc. to a wide spectrum of audience that will attract publicity and disseminate information of our medical center’s mission and increase our positive image in the community.

  • Responds to requests for information and presence.

  • Fulfill outside (e.g. media, public) requests for information and or other needs (e.g. interview) with accurate and prompt information in a professional matter at all times. Market our service lines at various outlets. Creates attractive, current and informative resources (brochures, flyers, fact sheets, etc.) for the public, media and medical community.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field (Strongly desired)

Years of Experience

  • 5 years in Healthcare Sales Marketing (preferred)
  • 5 years in Sales, Business Development or Patient Acquisition in Healthcare setting (preferred)
  • 5 years in Community Outreach (preferred)
  • 5 years in Computer applications, typing, general office skills (required)
