Gift Officer, Mid-Level Giving in Work From Home at Shriners Hospitals for Children

Job Description

The Gift Officer, Mid-Level Giving is responsible for identifying donors who are currently making mid-level gifts, building relationships and deepening donor engagement with these donors towards greater financial support of Shriners Hospitals for Children’s mission. This position reports to the Senior Regional Director of Planned and Major Giving. The Gift Officer will be an active participant with the Senior Regional Director of Planned and Major Giving to create strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward the identified donors. The Gift Officer will work an assigned area (region) of the country to cultivate those donors and will work in a remote capacity.


Collaborate with the Senior Regional Director of Planned and Major Giving to create a strategic gift solicitation plan to increase retention and generate larger gifts from mid-level donors, including a cultivation plan that encompasses written materials, digital content, oral communication and face-to-face meetings.

Manage a caseload capacity of 400-600 donors

Analyze Blackbaud CRM files monthly to identify mid-level donors

Actively use phone (average of 10 calls a day) and written communication (average of 30 letters per week) to continually qualify new donors

Employ moves management strategies to build relationships, deepen donor engagement and increase retention of mid-level donors

Solicit and close gifts from mid-level donors

Record all donor-related activities in an accurately and timely manner in BlackBaud CRM

Provide required reports in a timely manner to the Senior Regional Director of Planned and Major Giving.

Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with all the Shriners Hospitals for Children development team, promoting a positive atmosphere with local development teams .

Job Requirements


● 3 years’ progressively responsible fundraising experience

● Experience recording donor interactions in a database required

● Healthcare fundraising experience preferred


● Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent of education and experience, required


● Superior oral and written communication skills

● Entrepreneurial self-starter

● Ability to work independently and perform work driven by objective

● Experience building new relationships while managing competing deadlines

● Detail-oriented in planning, data analysis, and writing

● Effective time management skills

● Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work successfully with colleagues, donors, administrators, and volunteers

● Highly developed ability to work independently within a strong teamwork philosophy as well as collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals

● Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and donor database

● Comfortable working in a dynamic environment; adaptable to change

● Flexible in working hours, ability and willingness to travel
